“Open Book Management is no longer a choice. Today it’s a survival guide.” - Jack Stack
There is no time more important than now to be committed to the principles and practices of Open Book Management. Everything about this system is designed to help manage through difficult times.
Sharing the key measures of business success - and then empowering and expecting your people to use those metrics to help the organization reach its goals – was revolutionary when Stack and his team at SRC came up with the idea in the early 1980s.
Today, over One Million employees from more than 4,000 organizations have been given a chance to play The Game… and Win!
This workshop will ensure you have the knowledge, tools, and guidance to put your Open-Book advantage into action. Our hands-on “Coach-the-Coach” format will enable participants to act as internal coaches to lead and develop an Open-Book Management practice in their own organizations.
Who should attend?
Every Workshop is facilitated exclusively by a Great Game of Business Practitioner Coach
Practitioner Coach – Seasoned business owners and top leadership who have applied the principles of Open-Book Management in their own companies with great success. They know what works – and what doesn’t! They know what it takes to begin practicing OBM quickly and effectively, while sustaining your unique culture and building a sense of ownership throughout your organization. They will share with you their personal success stories, and their pitfalls, and help guide your organization towards the successful application of Open Book Management.
Bill was born and raised in St. Louis. In 1988, he founded BC Group International, a regional distributor of biomedical testing equipment. In 1994 Bill discovered The Great Game of Business and implemented open-book management, and results were excellent. BC Group grew profitably for a decade, improving its gross margin, cash flow, quality, employee turnover, and customer satisfaction. The company was named to the St. Louis Technology Fast 50, a listing of the 50 fastest-growing tech firms in St. Louis, for the years 2000, 2001, and 2003. Bill sold BC Group in 2005. Today Bill is a coach with The Great Game of Business, helping companies implement open-book management and achieve financial success.
Wherever you are in your practice of Open Book Management, this “How-to” Workshop will provide you the practical insights, actionable tools, and know-how to take it up a notch.
Part 1 of this 3 workshop series is a full day session titled "Know & Teach the Rules" and "Critical Number". In it you will learn how to:
Helpful insights and powerful tools:
Although the idea behind the Great Game of Business and Open-Book Management is reasonably simple, making it work and making it sustainable isn’t so simple. One of the greatest sources of failure has been management trivializing the implementation undertaking.
There are undoubtedly many ways to apply the principles of Open-Book Management and The Great Game of Business. However, we’ve learned a lot over the past 25 years of piloting and refining these ideas in our own laboratory at SRC and working with thousands of companies over the past 15 years at The Great Game of Business. The breakthrough comes from shifting the entire idea of the Game from an “event” to a process and fully embedding it in the business.
Our goal is to provide an approach that will enable you to implement the Game. We are confident that if you follow these steps and stay disciplined to the process you will be successful.
One-on-One Feedback! By design we have limited the attendance of the session to ensure that you receive the personal attention you need. This is a hands-on, highly interactive workshop where you can discuss and strategize the unique challenges and rewards of running a workplace “Open Book”. And most importantly, your team will leave with a specific Plan of Action, guaranteed!
